What is special about Oak Bark Powder?

Oaks are among the most revered trees in Europe and provides people and wildlife with an abundance of renewable resources. From wood, roots, leaves, acorns and bark, every part of the oak tree is useful. With some trees living for over 1500 years, the trees are steeped in folklaw and have been used over many years in traditional medicine. The young tender bark is teaming with beneficial yeasts and rich in ellagic acid, pentosans, pectin, flavonoids – such as querticin, B vitamins and minerals, toning the gum tissues and cleaning the teeth.

Reduces the growth pathogenic bacteria in the mouth due to its antiseptic and antibacterial qualities due to the high levels of polyphenols.

How to Use Oak Bark Powder

  • Powder – use neat as a dry as a toothbrushing powder, combine with other powders such as green clay, walnut bark powder or charcoal to make a bespoke homemade toothpaste, or add at point of use to regular toothpaste.
  • Wet gum rub or toothpaste – just cover 1-2 teaspoons or 5=10g the oak bark powder in previously boiled water and leave overnight. Use the oak bark mixture over the next two days. Keep the mixture covered between uses. Rinse the mouth after use.
  • For emergency abscess treatment, apply a teaspoon of the mixture to the effected gum area changing through the day. Repeat daily. You can also sleep with this mixture against the problem area, but it is essential to see the dentist to find a permanent solution. It's important to remember that self-treatment with natural remedies like oak bark powder may not provide the necessary relief or resolution for serious gum issues and could potentially lead to further complications. Always consult with a healthcare professional or dentist for appropriate diagnosis and treatment options for gum problems.
  • Infusion as a mouthwash – Combine 5g or 1 teaspoons of oak bark powder with 250ml of water and leave overnight. In the morning heat the mixture and then allow to settle. Pour the oak liquid into a hot clean thermos excluding the sediment. Use the mouthwash frequently through the day.
  • Decoction – for a strong mouthwash – Combine 5g of oak bark powder with 250ml of water. Heat in a bain-maire water bath for 30 minutes. Strain off the sediment and use through the day as a mouthwash.

WARNING Do not use with children. Keep away from children and pets. If allergic cease use.

There are no reported interactions with drugs and other supplements, when taken internally, but tannins can inhibit the absorption of iron absorption.
