A hammam is a traditional steam bath used across North Africa, the Near East. The ritual has parallels to the traditions of Roman bathing, using a combination of heat, steam and cold water to maximize the cleansing benefits. The steam opens the pores of the skin, allowing the skin to release toxins. At the same time the constituents of the products such as oils and minerals are able to nourish the skin.

The hammam ritual assures deep cleansing, detoxing, relaxation and time to meditate, reflect and listen. It is considered to be among the healthiest of bathing rituals across the world.

Home spa hammam kit contents

• 75g jar of British Hemp Oil Soap - a traditional naturally antimicrobial soft soap with many uses, deep clean the pores, exfoliate the skin, use for hygienic hand and nail cleaning.
• 100g organic Moroccan Rhassoul Clay, just add water and use as a detoxifying face mask and soap and shampoo replacement.
• a premium quality Copper and Nettle Exfoliating Glove which is machine washable and very easy to care for.
• 30ml organic cold pressed Argan Oil, packed in glass.
• a medium Black Pumice, formed by a volcano.

Hemp oil soap

The first principle of you home spa is to get the skin wet and the body warm. Once you are the right temperature, start your home spa by rubbing the soap onto the wet and warm skin using either your hands or the exfoliating glove. Leave the soap to deep clean and lift off the dead skin for 5 minutes or so. Then use the exfoliating glove to complete the exfoliation. You now have clean, fresh and living skin.

Exfoliating glove

A naturally anti-microbial easy care exfoliating glove made from copper and nettle fibres.  With the thick, somewhat stretchy fabric, the exfoliating glove fits all hand sizes. Place your hand an the glove, wet the glove and use it to apply the hemp oil soap to the skin. After leaving the soap on the skin for 5 minutes, use the glove to rinse the skin and remove all the dead skin. Use the exfoliating glove more gently on areas of delicate skin. Rinse the exfoliating glove after use and allow it to air dry.

Rhassoul clay

Take you time and relax while the clay detoxes the skin and leaves it feeling clean in a way you won't have experienced before! Justly famous all over the world, this clay absorbs toxins from the lymph right through the skin, leaving the skin clear and pure. Use the hand or exfoliating glove to apply the clay to the skin using a massaging action. Leave the clay on for the duration of your treatment from 10 to 20 minutes. As long as the clay stays damp, it is working. Finally rinse the clay off again either using your hands or with the exfoliating glove.

Organic argan oil

Made from the kernels of the argan tree by a female owned cooperative, this is one of Morocco's most sought after products. Our cold pressed organic virgin argan oil is used as a moisturiser replacement and to protect the skin from the elements. A little goes a long way and the oil sinks readily into the skin, especially if the skin is still slightly damp from the bath. It is usually unnecessary to apply oil to the entire body. We recommend applying oil to the face, neck, hands and nail and other patches of dry skin such as the feet and legs and areas of skin prone to stretch marks or aging such as the décolletage (the area from the below the chin to the chest).

Pumice stone

Formed naturally by the ejection of molten magma from volcanoes, on cooling the material hardens into pumice. Our black pumice stones are very hard and generally with a course texture. They are extremely durable and I have never had a customer tell me in almost 2 decades that one has ever worn out! Apply the Hemp Oil Soap to areas of thick dead skin such as the heels, massage it in for a few minutes, then remove the dead skin gently with the pumice stone. It will achieve very thorough work.
